Spring Knit-A-Long | Thursdays March & April

$80.00

Thursdays in March & April

10:30am-12 -OR- 5:30-7pm

Let’s make a sweater together this Spring! It may seem intimidating, but trust me, you can do it! Sweater’s take a fair bit of work, but that doesn’t always mean they’re technically difficult. In fact, many mittens and hats are more complicated to make than a simple sweater. With the right pattern, a little guidance, and motivation, you might be amazed what you can do! This is a great way to learn and absorb new skills, from cast on to blocking.

For this Knit-a-Long (aka KAL) we’ve chosen two of our favorite sweater patterns from Tin Can Knits for you to pick from.

The Love Note sweater combines a fingering weight yarn with mohair, to create a bulky gauge that works up quite quickly on size 9 or 10 needles. The Love Note has a lace yoke, elegant sleeves, and can be made cropped length or longer, to suit your style. This is a great pattern to try if you’re curious about mixing mohair with another yarn, reading lace charts, or want a fashion forward design that doesn’t take forever to knit! Despite it’s “complicated” appearance, this sweater is more of an advanced beginner/intermediate pattern. Why not go for it?

The Flax Sweater uses worsted/aran weight yarn to create a classic shaped sweater, with just enough stitch detail to keep it interesting. The Flax Sweater is a great choice if you’ve never attempted a sweater before, or want a timeless sweater that goes with everything.

Both patterns are size inclusive, and have a size range from baby to adult! We recommend you preview both patterns on Ravelry to decide which one is right for you. We’d love to see folks knitting baby sweaters just as much as adult sized sweaters.

Skills needed:

To join this KAL you should already know how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. Some experience fixing mistakes or un-knitting will be helpful. Previous experience with knitting in the round is recommended, but not required. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Materials Needed

Due to the varied nature of this knit-a-long (the fact that we’re using two patterns, and will be likely knitting both adult and child sizes) we’re happy to consult with you individually about materials, sizing, etc., prior to class. We will spend our first meeting (March 7) discussing materials, gauge, pattern reading, winding yarn, and hopefully start knitting a gauge swatch. Participants are welcome to use the first class time to shop for materials.

Price includes a digital and printed copy of the pattern. Participants will receive 10% off materials purchased for this KAL.
